Situated less than five kilometers from Dublin city centre, Manresa is - surprisingly perhaps - a place of great peace and tranquility. With its own beautiful and extensive grounds, and with St. Anne's Park and the Bull Island on our doorstep, this is an ideal place for people to catch their breath, take stock of their lives and hear the gentle voice of God. From this, many blessings proceed: a renewed sense of God's loving presence and providence, greater clarity in making important decisions, openness to new challenges in life, a deeper commitment to present undertakings, a more focused sense of purpose, and inner peace.
Basing ourselves on the wisdom of St. Ignatius, especially as found in the Spiritual Exercises, we offer in Manresa retreats of all kinds, one-to-one accompaniment, training in spiritual direction, residential and evening programmes, and courses and seminars on a range of topical issues. Our hope is to provide something for everybody - of whatever background or denomination - from the rich inheritance and wisdom of the Ignatian tradition.
Manresa has en-suite accommodation for over forty guests, as well as a beautiful chapel, conference room, dining hall, art room, snack room, library and eight meeting rooms. Pride of place goes to our Prayer Room, which incorporates the five spectacular stained-glass windows by Evie Hone (1894-1955) originally designed for the Jesuit House in Rahan, near Tullamore. When the house in Rahan was closed, the windows were relocated to Manresa, where a new prayer room was built in 1992, specially designed to display them at their most resplendent. With their expressive intensity and vibrant colours, these windows create an atmosphere of warmth and immediacy, which enhances the prayerful presence we treasure above all in Manresa.
